Working In Uncertainty
University teaching by Matthew Leitch
For some years I have been delivering lectures on two MSc courses in risk management at the University of Southampton, and in 2013 I helped deliver a new course for undergraduates from across the university. I also regularly supervise MSc students as they work on their dissertations, which are original research projects.
Supervising dissertations is a lot like individual technical tutoring. It involves a number of one-to-one sessions over a period of time, completely focused on what the learner needs to know, and it involves giving feedback on their work. I have learned a lot from doing this.
These are the courses I have taught on.
Here's a video of Dr Alasdair Marshall talking about the new interdisciplinary course, The Management of Risk and Uncertainty. The content he talks about most is the material his lectures cover. My lectures are less sociological.
